Maxwell Klapow

Max is a behavioural scientist, consultant, and speaker who focuses on scalable digital mental health interventions in resource-limited settings. He is currently a Grand Union – ESRC Scholar at the University of Oxford in the Department of Experimental Psychology. He previously worked with UNICEF and the WHO to design and evaluate digital interventions to promote family well-being in Jamaica, Malaysia, the Philippines, and South Africa. He is currently leading a pilot of a hybrid mental health and parenting chatbot program in collaboration with the National Institute of Psychiatry Mexico, UNICEF, and the Mexican federal government. His research also includes projects conducting randomized trials, pilot evaluations, and feasibility studies of digital behavior change interventions throughout sub-Saharan Africa and Mexico. He received his B.A. with honors in Psychology, Neuroscience, and Philosophy from Washington University in St. Louis as a Danforth Scholar. He read for an MPhil in Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation at the University of Oxford as a Truman Scholar, where he graduated with honors.
