Play for All: Inclusive Approaches to Parenting and Child Development

 

Play is a powerful tool for strengthening parent-child relationships, supporting healthy child development, and fostering inclusion. This webinar will explore how inclusive play can benefit all children and families, including children and parents with disabilities and special needs. 

This session will be held in commemoration of Parenting Month to explore the importance of inclusive play and parenting practices that support all children, including children and parents with disabilities and special needs, to thrive and reach their full potential.

Speakers

Anna Booij is a Technical Programme Specialist at Clowns Without Borders South Africa supporting the quality implementation of the Parenting for Lifelong Health (PLH) programmes for young children and adolescents and the related PLH Digital interventions. After supporting partners in PLH capacity building, delivery, and monitoring and evaluation processes for several years, Anna now focuses on developing programme content and systems for effective implementation and roll-out in collaboration with PLH implementation and academic partners. Anna has a background in international development and humanitarian assistance, and builds on her research and operational experience in Liberia, South Sudan, Pakistan, Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, and South Africa.

Jill Popp is a Senior Programme Manager at the LEGO Foundation. Her work focuses on building evidence for learning through play, whole-child development, and lifelong learning. She brings a wealth of experience in translating research into action to promote playful learning globally.

Janeth Joseph Nandrie is a PhD candidate in Public Health at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Her doctoral research focuses on the ParentApp for Kids programme in Tanzania, exploring how digital tools can support caregivers’ mental wellbeing and early childhood development. Janeth is passionate about child development, playful learning, and the mental health of caregivers and children.
