CrisisText

In response to the increasing needs of families affected by war, displacement, and humanitarian crises, the Global Parenting Initiative is advancing low-cost, scalable solutions to support caregivers and children. In 2025, PLH, Sanadak, and the Hope Groups team collaboratively developed Palestinian ParentText in Crisis, a rule-based chatbot that delivers 10 sessions of mental health and parenting support to caregivers. An initial acceptability and feasibility pilot reached 800 caregivers between June and November 2025, achieving a 75% onboarding rate. A full evaluation of the programme is planned to launch in January 2026.

Building on this work, ParentText in Crisis has been adapted by World Vision and PLH to create three additional programmes: Ukrainian ParentText in Crisis, Romanian ParentText in Crisis, and Afghan ParentText in Crisis. These versions have been fully contextualised for their respective settings, while maintaining the core aim of strengthening caregiver wellbeing through accessible, chatbot-delivered parenting and mental health support. Evaluations for all three programmes are scheduled to begin between December 2025 and January 2026, with results expected by May 2026.
