On 21 May 2026, the GPI African teams convened in Cape Town for a full day of meaningful discussions on GPI studies, their impact, and the value of our collective work. Held under the theme, “From Evidence to Action: Advocacy, Learning and Storytelling Across Parenting Studies”, the convening brought together representatives from South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda at the Vineyard Hotel for a day of reflection, shared learning, and collaboration focused on strengthening parenting programmes across diverse African contexts.
The convening created space for study teams to share implementation experiences, discuss practical challenges and innovations, and strengthen collective advocacy and communication strategies. Sessions explored key themes including adapting parenting programmes to local needs, maintaining programme quality, navigating digital and hybrid delivery models, and developing compelling evidence-informed advocacy messages for policymakers, funders, practitioners, and communities.
The convening reinforced the importance of cross-country collaboration and the shared commitment to advancing child well-being, violence prevention, and parenting support across Africa.
