Building Sustainable Pathways for Parenting Support in Rural Thailand 🇹🇭

During 27–28 and 30 April 2026, the Peace Culture Foundation in Thailand hosted three Local Health Security Fund Proposal Writing Workshops for government frontline staff in Northeastern Thailand. The workshops form part of a new initiative aimed at strengthening sustainable, locally funded delivery of Parenting for Lifelong Health programmes in rural communities.

The workshops brought together 16 Parenting for Lifelong Health Young Children (PLH-YC) facilitators from diverse professional backgrounds, including nurses, public health officers, and teachers. Participants learned about Thailand’s Local Health Security Fund, a decentralised government funding mechanism designed to support community-level health promotion and disease prevention.

With guidance from the Peace Culture Foundation team, participants collaboratively developed funding proposals to support implementation of the PLH-YC programme in their respective areas. These proposals will be submitted to Provincial Administrative Organisations for review and consideration.

The Peace Culture Foundation will continue this work by facilitating similar workshops for frontline staff in Northern Thailand in the coming months.

The trainings were led by Chutinan Sornsomrit (Co-Project Director of Programs), Dr. Amalee McCoy (Co-Director of Research and Strategy), and Walee Naksuwan (Northeast Regional Coordinator), with funding support from the World Childhood Foundation.

This initiative reflects the GPI’s ongoing commitment to strengthening sustainable systems for evidence-based parenting support worldwide. GPI and its partners are helping to ensure that Parenting for Lifelong Health programmes can be embedded within existing community and public health systems, expanding access to families who need it most.
