Dr Tawanchai Jirapramukpitak is a Co-Principal Investigator on the Parenting on the Thailand/Myanmar Border Study. He is an Associate Professor at Mahidol University Institute for Population and Social Research and Consultant Psychiatrist at Thammasat University Hospital. Previously, he was a Wellcome Trust Postgraduate Research Fellow at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College, London.
His research experience includes a wide range of epidemiological work, from cross-sectional and longitudinal surveys to randomized controlled trials, funded by various national and international funders. His previous research involves the interrelationships of migration, family violence and mental health, social determinants of mental health, economic burden of mental illness and case management services for alcoholic and psychotic patients. His current research interests focus on mental health services system strengthening, implementation of community mental health programmes and global mental health more broadly.
