Sydney Tucker is a dedicated public health professional with a background in crisis interventions. With five years of experience, she led efforts to reduce stigma, improve the quality of life in leprosy communities in Asia, provide housing programs for homeless families, and support groups for survivors of abuse and trauma. This experience ignited her passion for rigorously evaluating interventions quantitatively.
She pursued a Master's in Public Health in epidemiology and biostatistics from 2021-2023, focusing her thesis on quantifying the association between adverse childhood experiences and disengagement from HIV care in Tanzania. After graduating in 2023, Sydney joined the Global Reference Group on Children Affected by COVID-19 and Crisis at Oxford University and the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London.
She is actively involved in research projects, including 'Ukrainian Hope Groups,' a cluster randomised trial for Ukrainian caregivers affected by war, and the OCAY study in Colombia, aiming to improve services for newly orphaned children. Sydney's commitment lies in using her research to enhance outcomes for children and families in crisis settings worldwide.
