Program Development Manager, Parenting in the Social Welfare System in the Philippines
Marika Melgar is the Program Development Manager for Parenting within the Social Welfare System in the Philippines. Marika is a licensed psychologist and psychotherapist practicing in the Philippines, with an interest in clinical practice and the cultural adaptation of programmes. She has over 10 years of experience in the psychotherapy and psychological assessment of children, adolescents, and adults. Through her private practice, she conducts mental health interventions, education, and training for individuals, families, corporations, and government units. She has been part of Parenting for Lifelong Health research and intervention projects in the Philippines, performing various roles in facilitation, supervision, and program adaptation (2016-present). Holding an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the Ateneo de Manila University, she was previously a mid-level supervisor of its psychology department's service and training arm, the Ateneo Bulatao Center for Psychological Services (2013-2021).
