Maira Alvarez Loyo Barcenas is a Research Assistant and Co-Investigator for Cultural Adaptation of PLH for Young Children in Latin America. She is a second-year MPhil candidate in Evidence-based Intervention and Policy Evaluation with the University of Oxford. Her research interest is related to the effectiveness and evaluation of the social care systems in Latin America; she focuses on child maltreatment prevention programmes. She is currently working with the Parenting for Lifelong Health initiative to adapt the programme for Young Children (2-9 years) to Latin America.
Before coming to Oxford, she worked as a Programme Manager in the Mexican philanthropic sector. She coordinated the grant allocation schemes, supported the delivery of programmes, and monitored programme budgets. As a consultant in a Social Enterprise that employs indigenous artisans, she collaborated in the community-based intervention's monitoring and evaluation strategies. She holds an MSc in Sociology from the London School of Economics and a BA in Cultural and Social Entrepreneurship from Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education.
