Caspar Addyman is a developmental psychologist, writer, and technologist. He has undergraduate degrees in Mathematics (Cambridge) and Psychology (London) and a PhD from Birkbeck Babylab. He was a director of the InfantLab at Goldsmiths, University of London, and is a visiting lecturer at ILCHR, Stellenbosch. He has investigated how babies acquire language, concepts, and their sense of time. He has also studied infant sleep and their response to music. Since 2012 he has been interested in how laughter helps babies bond and learn. His books include the popular science book The Laughing Baby and the Babies Laugh series of picture books for babies. In previous careers, he has been a chef, a computer programmer, and a city trader.
