On 19 December 2023, the Peace Culture Foundation (PCF) team hosted the first in-person Thai Positive Parenting Community of Practice (CoP) conference at Chulabhorn Research Institute Convention Centre in Bangkok, in partnership with the National Institute for Child and Family Development at Mahidol University.
A total of 133 participants, including government officials, health professionals, teachers, NGO staff, UN officials, and private sector representatives, attended the event. The conference’s main event was a panel featuring five government presenters from five departments under three ministries (Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Social Development & Human Security, and Ministry of Education). Mr Nattawut Buaprathum, a deputy leader of the Move Forward Party, presented in a working group discussion on policy advocacy for positive parenting.
These participants took part in a policy advocacy working group at the event.
During the first session, a panel discussion took place focusing on the topic of "Advocating Positive Parenting into National Policies." Dr. Ora-on Poocharoen, Director of the Public Policy Institute at Chiang Mai University, assumed the role of moderator. The speakers featured Associate Professor Dr. Adisak, Director of the National Institute for Child and Family Development at Mahidol University, along with representatives from various departments, including the Ministry of Public Health (encompassing the Department of Health and the Department of Mental Health), the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (covering the Department of Children and Youth Affairs, the Department of Women's Affairs, and Family Institutions), as well as the Office of the Basic Education Commission at the Ministry of Education.
Signing of the MOU: Strengthening Partnerships and Commitments for a Shared Vision
During the event, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between the Peace Culture Foundation and the National Institute for Child and Family Development at Mahidol University to formally co-chair the COP.
