Abstract

The article examines the effectiveness of "Hope Groups," psychosocial and parenting support groups, in improving mental health, positive parenting, and reducing violence against children among Ukrainian caregivers affected by the war. The study involved 577 caregivers and utilized a pre/post design to measure changes in mental health, parenting, and child health outcomes at baseline, midline, and endline. Significant improvements were observed in all measured outcomes, including reduced depressive symptoms, increased hopefulness, better parenting practices, and decreased emotional and physical violence against children. The findings suggest that Hope Groups are a feasible and effective intervention for war-affected families in Ukraine.
