Parenting Within the Public Health System in Thailand Co-lead Dr Amalee McCoy was recently honored with the Social Action Award at the Study UK Alumni Awards Thailand 2023.  This annual event, hosted by the British Council, recognizes UK alumni who have made an impact in their communities, industries, and countries. The Social Action Award recognises alumni from various British universities who have made an exceptional contribution and commitment to creating positive social change and improving the lives of others.         

Dr McCoy has over 20 years of experience in child protection and child rights programming, quantitative and qualitative research, policy advocacy, project management, safeguarding, and capacity building with international and local NGOs, UN agencies, and academia, with a focus on the Asian region. She is currently co-leading GPI's Parenting Within the Public Health System in Thailand study which seeks to reduce physical, emotional, and sexual violence against children in Thailand by scaling up the PLH-Young Children programme in Thailand, with an emphasis on adaptation of PLH digital, male engagement, cost-benefit analysis, and social return on investment.
