Caregiving Resources for Families Affected by the Turkiye/Syria Earthquake

A few hours after midnight on 6 February 2023, a devastating earthquake measuring 7.8 in magnitude hit southeast Türkiye and Syria, affecting areas of Turkiye, Syria, Lebanon and neighbouring countries. The initial earthquake was followed by a second quake measuring 7.5 in magnitude later that day. Rescue efforts are still underway, with the current death toll at over 9500 people.

As with any natural disaster of this scale, families and caregivers with children are especially vulnerable. In response, GPI and PLH interagency partner UNODC have now set up a dedicated page on their website to support parents and caregivers during the disaster.
